The exact amount depends on the number of colors in the design. Each additional colored used takes over 100 stitches away from the total number available. When you do get more than 14,000 stitches consider >yourself lucky and "go for it". It has nothing to do with the card or machine version (2.0)... Currently each design can take up to 32K bytes. This is distributed accross header and stitch data. The header information contains color separated icons, as well as a bunch of other stuff. The color separated icons take up a bunch of space, thus causing the great variation in how big each design can be. Each stitch is about 2 bytes. I personally used to use 14,710 as my "magic" number... Then I started using designs with more than half a dozen colors... Now I'm back to 14,000 as the golden rule.
